DEG Training: „Human Resource Management“, Vlasic, 21st -23rd March 2012

During the continuation of the project “Democratic Economic Governance - Securing Access to Water through Institutional Development and Infrastructure” and component which is related to capacity development of municipality representatives and service providers, three-day training was held on subject: “Human Resource Management”. Training provided basic information how to manage human resources (planning, development, etc.). Through practical work on specific tasks, participants were able to do a simulation of the case and, in this way, to contribute to the development of human resources in their local communities.

In order to work efficiently, training days are divided for the representatives of following sectors:

  1. Representatives of Municipalities and other institutions-organizations (Forestry, Police, private sector), 21st March 2012;
  2. Center for Social Work-municipal services for social protection, education and NGOs representatives, 22nd March 2012;
  3. Water Utility and Health sector representatives, 23rd March 2012.

The general assessment of the training was very good having in mind the well-targeted selection of the topics, evaluation of trainers and their work, as well as the usefulness and duration of the training. Participants received practical material for successful planning and developing of human resources, based on simple and practical examples. Importance of mid-term and long-term planning of human potential were emphasized as well as the fact that the current plans which the public institutions representatives forward toward municipalities and ministries are not taken into consideration. Developing human potential which encompasses planned, systematically and constant training of employees were also emphasized as important. Due to cooperating atmosphere, participants are introduced with basics of planning and developing human resources, process of employment and professional ethics through theoretical part. Later, participants used the theoretical part to practice it in group work. Aware of the problems in applying knowledge from the training in their local communities, the participants noted that they will try to use it in their everyday work.
