DEG Training: „Advocacy to Raise Awareness“, Jahorina, 26th-27th April 2012
During the continuation of the project “Democratic Economic Governance - Securing Access to Water through Institutional Development and Infrastructure” and component which is related to capacity development of municipality representatives and service providers, two-day training was held on subject: “Advocacy to Raise Awareness”. Training was aimed for Commission for Enhancing Social Protection and Inclusion representatives and provided basic information about advocacy activities (identification, analysis, goals, etc.). Through practical work on specific tasks, participants were able to develop advocacy campaigns which they will use in their local communities.
The general assessment of the training was very good having in mind the well-targeted selection of the topics, evaluation of trainers and their work, as well as the usefulness of the training. Participants received practical material for successful planning and developing advocacy campaigns (based on simple and practical examples), which participants will use in further developing campaigns which are started during the training. Also, it will be useful in other advocacy campaigns in local communities.
Due to the fact that the training was planned for the municipalities which did not implemented Criteria and Measures documents (in municipal budgets), we can say that effect was double. Besides the developed campaigns, the municipalities which previously implemented the aforementioned documents (and which were a leading example), got detailed steps on how to create a campaign, without knowing it when they prepared theirs.
